A Framework for Working

Lets not call it a process

My current framework:

Explore and understand

• Does it make sense why we are doing this?
• Do I understand the problem we're trying to solve?
  • Whats the user problem?
  • Whats the business problem?
  • Problem reframing - HMW, 5 Whys, JTBD
• Do I understand who is having this problem?
• Do I need to research this to fill in any gaps?
  • Desk research (Mobbin, AI Deep Research, Reddit etc)
  • User research (Linkedin outreach, in-app invites to interview, in-app surveys)
• Can I clearly articulate the problem?
  • If yes, move on. If no, keep at it.

Ideate Solutions

• Make lots solutions to the problem
  • Sketching
  • Prototypes
  • Figma
• Show those solutions to people and talk about them
• Pick the promising ones
• Show them to real users
• Iterate & polish them
  • This is rarely linear
  • Don't be afraid to go backwards as well as sideways
  • You will realise some assumptions are wrong, don't hang on to invalidated ideas just because you've invested time in them.
• Eventually you'll have something polished enough to build.
• Go build it.
